LSBF Malta's Licensing Journey
In 2023, LSBF Malta, a privately-owned Higher Education Institution obtained licensure (License Number 2020-015) from the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) and is currently undergoing accreditation for its degree programmes. MFHEA is dedicated to fostering excellence in higher education through its high standards and rigorous quality assurance procedures. LSBF UK, an established higher education provider renowned for its comprehensive range of programmes, collaborates with other universities to deliver reputable degree programmes. With the accreditation and licensure granted by MFHEA, LSBF Malta has gained the autonomy to independently award degrees.
History and Development
The first overseas campus was opened in Toronto, Canada, in 2011 (since then the brand has been rebranded to Toronto School of Management). It was followed by the Singapore campus later that year, making LSBF the first UK-based business school to have a campus in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2011, David Blunkett – the former UK Home Secretary and Education Secretary – was appointed as a visiting lecturer. He has continued to be involved in LSBF’s operations ever since, including conducting interviews for the school’s Great Minds video series with figures such as Richard Branson, Deborah Meaden, Tony Blair, and Sir John Major.
LSBF Awards and Accreditations
LSBF students benefit from memberships with both AACSB and the Business Graduates Association. LSBF achieved notable recognition in 2023, and was shortlisted for both the prestigious Investor Awards in the Higher Education category and CMI’s Higher Education Outstanding Partner of the Year Award. In 2024, LSBF was a finalist for the BGA Student of the Year Award as well as the Investor Awards for Outstanding HE Institution of the Year.
